American Laser System Reduces Drone Border Breaches by 75% - Sarmad

U.S. military officials announced that drone activity along the southern border of the United States has declined by approximately 75% in the Rio Grande Valley area, less than two weeks after the Army began using a high-energy laser system to shoot down suspicious drones.

The system entered service for the first time on August 25 and 26, when it shot down three drones, following months of training.

Military officials said the Army regularly coordinates with the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure that the use of the laser does not pose risks to civilians.

Colonel Robert Felicio, commander of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade deployed along the border, said there has been a significant change in drone activity since the laser system became operational, noting that returning a drone to its launch point does not prevent its subsequent use.
