Ruler of Sharjah Approves Part-Time Work System for Seniors, Their Spouses, and Retirees - Sarmad

Sharjah TV in the United Arab Emirates quoted Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zayani, Head of the Human Resources Department in the Emirate of Sharjah, as saying that the Ruler of Sharjah has approved a new part-time work system for the Sharjah government, targeting senior citizens, their spouses, and retirees. He clarified that they can choose between two options: working three days a week or working specific hours.

Al Zayani told the “Direct Line” program on Sharjah TV that the Ruler of Sharjah has designated 1,000 positions in the Sharjah government under the new part-time work system, which will help create job opportunities better suited to family life.

He added that the Ruler of Sharjah reviewed employment statistics for Emirati nationals in the government during 2026, which showed the hiring of 1,800 male and female citizens. He directed that the hiring of an additional 1,200 citizens be expedited during the current year, in line with the Emirate’s plan to employ 3,000 male and female citizens by 2026.
