CENTCOM: 92 commercial vessels rerouted since the start of the naval blockade on Iran - Sarmad

(KUNA) — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it has rerouted 92 commercial vessels since the resumption of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports in mid-July. In a statement, CENTCOM said that U.S. forces had, as of Sunday, rerouted 92 commercial ships, halted three vessels, and inspected two others to ensure full compliance with the sanctions on Iran, emphasizing that the U.S. Navy is enforcing the maritime blockade on Iranian ports “strictly.”

Earlier, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated in a recent operational update that U.S. forces have not allowed Iran to export any oil from its coastlines since the blockade was reinstated. Cooper stressed that the maritime blockade on Iran remains “active and strong” and is achieving its objectives, noting that no vessel has entered or departed from an Iranian port without U.S. forces’ permission, and that passage has been limited solely to humanitarian cases.
