Among them, the phrase 'Long live Israel'... Egyptian driver arrested over offensive sign - Sarmad

Egyptian police arrested a bus driver for displaying two moving rear signs bearing offensive language and profanity, along with the phrase “Long live Israel.”

The Ministry of Interior stated in a post on Facebook on Sunday that it had identified and examined a video circulating on social media, which showed damage caused by the driver of a microbus who had installed two illuminated, moving signs on the rear of the vehicle. The signs displayed offensive remarks while the vehicle was being driven on a street in the Imbaba Police Station district in Giza.

The ministry clarified that the microbus and its driver were identified and apprehended. Upon questioning, the driver confessed to committing the offense on September 4 while driving within the jurisdiction of the Imbaba Police Station.

The suspect added that the two signs were powered by LED lights controlled via a program on his mobile phone, and that the offensive phrases were included as a joke aimed at other drivers at the parking area.

The ministry noted that the vehicle had been seized and legal procedures were initiated.
