Putin orders no bombing of Kyiv for 3 days coinciding with visit of US envoys - Sarmad

The Kremlin announced on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day halt to bombing Kyiv, coinciding with the anticipated visit of US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to the Ukrainian capital.

Tass news agency quoted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying, “Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin issued an order not to bomb Kyiv for three days, starting from midnight tonight,” adding that the decision was linked to “conducting communications” with the US delegation expected to arrive in Kyiv.

US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff arrived at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow carrying a proposal to end the war in Ukraine, as reported by Russian media on Saturday.

Their plane landed at 12:52 p.m. (9:52 a.m. GMT), according to RIA Novosti. They are scheduled to travel to Kyiv following talks in Moscow, marking the first such trip since they began mediation efforts in the conflict.

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he would send envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Moscow and Kyiv, along with a proposal to end the four-year-old war in Ukraine.

This step represents Washington’s latest attempt to break the diplomatic deadlock in the most violent conflict Europe has witnessed since World War II, which began with the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

US-led diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war have stalled in recent months, as Washington shifted its focus to tensions with Iran. The Russia-Ukraine war has become the worst conflict in Europe since World War II, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians and hundreds of thousands of soldiers.
