Egypt and Bahrain stress the importance of intensifying efforts to de-escalate the region - Sarmad

Egypt and Bahrain underscored on Saturday the importance of intensifying efforts to contain tensions and de-escalate hostilities, thereby contributing to the preservation of regional security and stability and sparing their peoples the repercussions of an expanding confrontation.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this came during a telephone conversation between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdelatty and his Bahraini counterpart, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, as part of the continuous consultations between the two countries.

The ministry clarified that the call addressed the distinguished bilateral relations and the rapid regional developments and their impact on the security and stability of the region.

It noted that Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain in the face of any threats to its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that Bahrain’s security and that of the Gulf Arab states constitutes an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

He stressed the necessity of halting the current escalation, avoiding any steps that could widen the scope of confrontation, and working to create favorable conditions for a return to political and diplomatic tracks.
