Egyptian and Omani Foreign Ministers Discuss Efforts to Contain Current Regional Tensions - Sarmad

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi, to discuss developments in the regional landscape and efforts to contain the current tensions.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Saturday that Abdelatty emphasized during the call the priority of halting escalation and avoiding any steps that could inflame tensions and threaten the security and stability of the region. He stressed the necessity of creating space for diplomatic efforts, considering them the optimal path to address the root causes of the crisis.

Abdelatty underscored the importance of returning to negotiations between the United States and Iran in accordance with the “Islamabad” memorandum of understanding, building upon it as a framework that enables the resolution of outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiation.

The call also addressed developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for regional security and the global economy, with both ministers stressing the need to safeguard the security and safety of maritime navigation and ensure the smooth flow of trade and energy supplies.
