Al-Alemi: We will not allow Iran to control the Bab al-Mandab Strait under any circumstances - Sarmad
A source in the office of the Supreme Commander of the Yemeni Armed Forces stated that Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, is monitoring around the clock the developments on the ground and the progress of military operations on the fronts in Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen, amid the ongoing escalation by the Houthis, according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
The agency reported that al-Alimi continued his meetings and communications with military and field commanders to review the course of operations, the level of combat readiness, and the operational and logistical needs of the armed forces and all military formations in the theater of operations.
Al-Alimi placed full responsibility for the humanitarian repercussions of the escalation and the violations committed against civilians, including causing the displacement of hundreds of families from confrontation zones, squarely on the “terrorist” Houthi militias. He condemned their blatant disregard for the lives of Yemenis and their insistence on turning their children and regions into fuel for their sectarian project and the agenda of their backers.
He stressed that the state and its armed forces would not allow the Iranian regime to achieve its goal of controlling the Bab al-Mandab Strait under any circumstances, and that any adventure directed toward these areas would result in severe attrition for the “terrorist” militias.
The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces said that the sons of our people, who are following this battle with confidence and pride, should be reassured that their armed forces are fighting today with firm resolve, unified leadership, and full knowledge of the nature of the battle and the enemy’s objectives. He added that these militias would not be more capable of enduring than the will of an entire people defending their state, dignity, and future.
Al-Alimi renewed his directives to the armed forces to take all necessary measures to protect civilians, secure residential areas, and facilitate the evacuation and relief of displaced families. He emphasized that protecting citizens’ lives would remain at the core of the state’s duties, in contrast to militias that do not hesitate to use civilians as fuel for their reckless adventures.
He called on all political and social forces, platforms of thought and awareness, media outlets, and national elites to assume their responsibilities at this critical moment in the country’s history, which requires unifying the domestic front, strengthening confidence in the state, its institutions, and its armed forces, and avoiding being drawn into campaigns of disinformation and defamation that the militias rely on to undermine the morale of Yemenis.
