Interior Ministry dismantles network involved in stealing diesel and reselling it within the country - Sarmad

The Ministry of Interior announced that, as part of efforts to combat theft crimes and counter illegal activities, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Capital Governorate Criminal Investigations Department, dismantled a network involved in stealing diesel from vehicles belonging to government entities and private companies, and in collecting and reselling it to projects within Kuwait.

Investigations and follow-up revealed that several drivers had appropriated quantities of diesel from vehicles assigned to them in the course of their duties, without the knowledge of their employers, and transported them to a site in the Umghara area for sale and collection into dedicated tankers.

Investigations also revealed that a Kuwaiti national provided the tankers used for drawing and collecting diesel in exchange for 1,600 Kuwaiti dinars per month under a leasing arrangement, fully aware that they were being used for illegal activities.

After completing search and investigative procedures and monitoring the site, the main suspects were apprehended in flagrante delicto while drawing diesel from one of the vehicles. Other suspects were also arrested while purchasing the collected quantities.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 41 suspects, including those who stole, sold, or bought the diesel, as well as individuals present with them, and the seizure of 38 vehicles belonging to government entities and private companies.

During interrogations, the suspects confessed to the charges against them, each according to their role in the incident. Necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the competent authorities.
