US President Donald Trump, in an interview with the British right-wing network GB News, stated that the United States is waging war against Iran to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon, emphasizing that Iran was “two weeks, perhaps four weeks” away from possessing a nuclear weapon before the US strikes, and that Washington targeted its nuclear sites.

He added that three Iranian nuclear sites “were destroyed,” and that nuclear materials present there are now buried under millions of tons of rock, making access extremely difficult.

During the interview, Trump reiterated that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz, and that US forces “are taking 30 or 40 boats a night,” referring to the naval blockade on Iran, while noting that large quantities of oil continue to flow through the strait.

He pointed out that the Iranian economy is collapsing, with inflation potentially reaching 300%, and that the Iranian currency has lost significant value compared to the US dollar.

Trump affirmed that the United States will not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, stating that his country has defeated the Iranian navy and air force, and that Iranian leaders have been killed during the war.
