Iranian Ministry of Health: 126 killed and injured in US airstrikes - Sarmad

The Iranian Ministry of Health revealed the number of casualties and injuries resulting from US airstrikes that targeted several areas in Iran on the night of Tuesday.

Iran’s Health Minister stated, “18 people were killed and 108 of our citizens were injured in the attacks that struck several provinces,” according to the Tasnim Iranian news agency.

The bombing came as part of a new round of military escalation between the United States and Iran, following weeks of relative calm that succeeded a temporary understanding between the two sides.

Iranian sources reported that one strike hit a residential area in Sirik, within Hormozgan Province, during a wedding ceremony, resulting in civilian casualties.

International reports confirmed the presence of civilian victims, including a child, in the attack, while Iranian sources mentioned damage to other civilian sites.

Washington justified the strikes by accusing Iran of attempting to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including efforts to lay naval mines, as well as Iranian missile attacks targeting US forces and facilities in the region.

US President Donald Trump warned Tehran that any additional response would be met with harsher US strikes.

This new confrontation comes despite a temporary understanding reached in June aimed at halting fighting and paving the way for a political settlement, although disagreements over the implementation of its provisions prevented a permanent ceasefire from taking hold.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Tuesday that Tehran is ready to return to compliance with the understanding if the United States honors its commitments, emphasizing that Iran remains open to the diplomatic track.
