Egypt and China sign more than 20 cooperation agreements during Xi Jinping's visit - Sarmad

Egypt and China signed more than 20 agreements and memoranda of understanding for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, on the sidelines of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Cairo.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in Cairo, followed by the signing of agreements in several economic and technical fields to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the two presidents presided over a signing ceremony for more than 20 cooperation documents covering areas including the Belt and Road Initiative, artificial intelligence, trade, economy, supply chain and production cooperation, as well as the digital economy, science and technology, education, transport, and other fields.

The two sides issued a joint statement on continuing to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership.

The agency reported that the two presidents exchanged in-depth views on the situation in the Middle East. The Chinese president noted that his country supports the development of good-neighborly relations among regional states, adherence to the concept of a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security approach, and the building of a new security architecture in the Middle East.

Regarding economic cooperation, Egyptian President el-Sisi announced the launch of the third phase of expansions of the Egyptian-Chinese Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, noting that this step initiates a new phase of business in key sectors such as renewable energy, automotive manufacturing, textiles, and chemical fibers.

El-Sisi stressed that Egypt is working to reduce tensions in the region and prioritize diplomatic solutions to resolve crises, thereby contributing to achieving peace and supporting the development of the region’s peoples. He expressed his welcome for the convergence of positions between the two countries on regional issues of mutual concern.
