International Atomic Energy Agency: Iran capable of producing several nuclear weapons, refuses cooperation - Sarmad

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced in a statement that Iran is refusing to cooperate with nuclear inspectors amid the war.

The agency’s report stated that “the Islamic Republic of Iran continued to refuse to provide any information to the IAEA in Vienna regarding approximately 440 kilograms of near-weapons-grade uranium in the country.”

According to the report, this quantity is sufficient to produce several nuclear weapons if the purity of the highly enriched material were increased slightly further.

The report concluded: “IAEA inspectors currently cannot access more than 20 sites related to Iran’s nuclear program, while Tehran denies its desire to develop nuclear weapons.”

Earlier, Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, stated that any inspections of nuclear facilities that had been subjected to military attacks would be subject to legal approvals from parliament and the establishment of specific security protocols.

Eslami emphasized that requests to inspect these sites were “unacceptable” at present.

Meanwhile, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that the United States does not rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran regarding its civilian nuclear program, provided that Tehran abandons what he described as its “weapons program.”
