Trump: We will attack Iran now... little will remain of the Islamic Republic - Sarmad
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to launch larger strikes against Iran, affirming that the United States would not allow the Islamic Republic to continue as it is.
Trump stated in his remarks: “If failed Iran responds to this justified attack, it will be struck again with greater force and at a higher level, but it will not be the largest attack ever; the biggest attack is awaiting it, and when it ends, little will remain of the Islamic Republic of Iran!”
A senior Iranian military source told Tasnim News Agency that the Iranian Armed Forces would inevitably respond tonight to U.S. attacks that targeted parts of Iranian territory.
He said the response would be “multiple times greater,” and that the armed forces would reply “firmly and forcefully” to any aggression against Iranian territory and the country’s interests, recalling previous warnings to this effect. He added that U.S. interests and bases in the region are facing accelerating Iranian attacks.
U.S. forces carried out air strikes yesterday, Sunday, targeting Iranian platforms on Larak Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz. Washington stated that these platforms were preparing to launch missiles carrying naval mines in the strait.
U.S. Central Command described the operation as a “limited and precise” measure against Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces that posed an imminent threat to navigation in the strait.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responded by launching ballistic missiles targeting two U.S. military bases in Jordan, “King Hussein” and “Al-Azraq,” while reports indicated that “Al-Udeid” base in Qatar was also targeted in the same operation. The Jordanian military announced that it intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace.
These strikes come after weeks of relative calm in direct clashes between the two sides, with the last U.S. airstrikes on Iranian territory occurring in late July. Last week, Trump announced that U.S. naval forces had completely cleared the strait of mines, warning of an “absolute zero tolerance” policy toward any new attempts to lay mines.
The U.S. president described Iran as a “failed state” lacking a navy or air force, and its leaders as “largely dead,” vowing to continue military and economic pressure on the country. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced a new round of secondary sanctions targeting foreign entities involved in purchasing Iranian oil, as part of what it termed an “economic war” against Tehran.
