European Union allocates 12 million euros to support health services in Syria - Sarmad

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it has received €12 million in humanitarian funding from the European Union to support the health sector and its capacity to respond to health needs across Syria.

The organization clarified that the new funding will help secure medicines for non-communicable diseases, alongside supporting emergency medical care and mental health services, sectors that require sustained supply and equipment to ensure patients receive necessary care.

A portion of the aid will also be allocated to providing essential medical equipment and supplies for critical hospital departments, including dialysis units, emergency rooms, surgical wards, and intensive care units.

This support aims to help maintain the continuity of basic medical services, enhance the readiness of health facilities to handle emergencies and patients requiring specialized care, and improve the availability of essential medicines and supplies.

The funding comes as Syria’s health sector continues to face growing needs, making international humanitarian aid a crucial factor in supporting health facilities and ensuring basic services for patients in various regions.
