Turkey hosts first meeting of the "Makkah Agreement" Joint Defense Committee - Sarmad

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, today to chair the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense. The meeting includes defense and foreign ministers, armed forces commanders, chiefs of general staff, and senior officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Turkey.

Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Istanbul on Monday.

The meeting took place ahead of the inaugural session of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee established under the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.

Istanbul is hosting the first meeting of the committee, attended by the foreign and defense ministers and chiefs of staff of the three countries. The committee is tasked with setting the strategic direction for activities to be implemented under the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense.

The meeting addresses international security issues, as well as ways to enhance defense capabilities and strengthen interoperability among the armed forces of the three countries.
