Turkish Ambassador Affirms Deep Relations with Kuwait and Growing Bilateral Cooperation in Various Fields - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, Topa Sonmez, affirmed the depth of the relations between her country and the State of Kuwait, noting their continuous growth across various fields. This progress is driven by the commitment of both countries’ leadership to enhance cooperation and joint coordination, serving their mutual interests and contributing to the security and stability of the region.

This statement was made during a speech delivered at a ceremony hosted by the Turkish Embassy to commemorate “Victory Day,” attended by Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Pilot Fahad Al-Kharinji and a group of heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kuwait.

Ambassador Sonmez stated that Kuwaiti-Turkish relations are based on shared visions regarding many regional and international issues, foremost among them the commitment to achieving peace and stability, and the importance of dialogue and mediation in addressing challenges facing the region.

She noted that recent years have witnessed a noticeable momentum in bilateral relations, reflected in intensified high-level visits and meetings between officials of both countries. A key milestone was the historic visit by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (may God protect and support him), to Turkey in May 2024, which marked an important stage in the trajectory of relations between the two countries.

She added that exchanges of visits at the highest levels have contributed to strengthening coordination between Kuwait and Turkey and opening new horizons for cooperation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Kuwait in October 2025, while 2026 saw a number of reciprocal visits by senior officials from both countries.

She pointed out that this continuous communication reflects the robustness of bilateral relations and the shared will to develop them across various fields and enhance the existing partnership between the two countries, thereby fulfilling the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

She expressed her confidence that continuing to strengthen cooperation between Kuwait and Turkey would not only serve the mutual interests of both countries but also support efforts to achieve peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
