Egypt Sets Entry Visa Fees at $15 - Sarmad

The Egyptian government has decided to unify the fees imposed on entry and transit visas at border crossings, as well as on all visas and consular services carried out by Egyptian missions abroad, at a rate of 15 US dollars or its equivalent in foreign currencies.

This comes in accordance with Prime Ministerial Decision No. 2553 of 2026, published in the Official Gazette, which stipulated that the new fee value of 15 US dollars or its equivalent in foreign currencies would take effect abroad starting January 1, 2027, and also mandated the repeal of any provisions conflicting with its terms.

The new fee amount falls within the maximum limit set by the House of Representatives as part of legislative amendments approved in November 2025 regarding fees imposed on certain services provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both within Egypt and abroad.

The article approved by the House stipulated that a fee not exceeding 50 Egyptian pounds would be charged for each certification performed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within Egypt, and a fee not exceeding 20 US dollars or its equivalent in foreign currencies would be charged abroad for each entry or transit visa issued by Egyptian authorities at border crossings, as well as for each visa or consular service performed by Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad.

The law entrusted the Prime Minister with determining the categories of the aforementioned fees by a decree issued after Cabinet approval, based on a proposal from the minister responsible for foreign affairs, which led to the recent decree setting the fee at 15 US dollars.
