Kuwait Bowling Team Wins Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the Asian Junior Championship - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Kuwaiti junior bowling team won three medals: gold in the Masters (girls), silver in the individual event (girls), and bronze in the doubles (youth) at the 25th Asian Junior Championships held in Jakarta, the Indonesian capital. The tournament, which kicked off on August 23 and concluded on Saturday, featured participation from 15 countries.

Iyad Al-Omairi, coach of the Kuwaiti national bowling team, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwaiti player Sharifa Iskandar achieved a remarkable and unprecedented feat in women’s bowling among Gulf and Arab countries, by winning the gold medal and first place in the junior girls’ Masters event, as well as securing silver in the individual competition at the same championship.

He added that in the junior boys’ doubles event, Kuwaiti team members Hussain Qasim and Fahd Al-Saqabi won the bronze medal, further strengthening Kuwait’s presence on the podium. The championship saw 12 players and players’ representatives from Kuwait’s junior team, comprising eight male and four female athletes.

Al-Omairi noted that Kuwait finished fourth in the overall standings, a result reflecting the advanced level displayed by the athletes across various competitions and underscoring the development of bowling in Kuwait across age groups.

He emphasized that this achievement is the result of efforts by the Kuwait Bowling Federation to prepare, train, and provide suitable conditions for participation in continental and international tournaments, contributing to continued success and raising Kuwait’s name in sporting arenas. He conveyed congratulations on this accomplishment to the Kuwaiti leadership, government, and people.
