Thousands of Afghan refugees return from Iran and Pakistan, with 439 families registered in a single day - Sarmad

Afghanistan announced that 439 families, totaling 2,071 people, returned to the country from neighboring Iran and Pakistan in a single day.

Hamdullah Fatrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, posted a report from the High Commission for the Resolution of Afghan Refugee Problems on his X (formerly Twitter) account, according to the Afghan Bakhtar News Agency on Saturday. The report stated that 367 families, comprising 1,805 individuals, returned to Afghanistan and were registered at the Torkham border crossing.

The Commission said that 318 families, totaling 2,308 people, were transported from Torkham to the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul, with 1.67 million Afghan afghani provided to cover their transportation costs.

It added that a total of 3.486 million Afghan afghani in cash assistance was distributed to 409 families at Torkham, while healthcare and communication services were also provided to the Omar Khail camp.

Meanwhile, 13 families, comprising 55 people, returned to Afghanistan via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.
