Tottenham sign Marmoush on a one-year loan - Sarmad

(Royters) – Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League football club, announced on Thursday that it has signed Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a one-year loan deal, with the North London club retaining an option to make the Egyptian striker’s transfer permanent next year.

British media reported that the deal includes a commitment to sign the player permanently for £50 million ($67.96 million), plus £10 million in variable add-ons.

Marmoush said in a statement: “It’s great to be here. I’m very excited to start my journey with the team and can’t wait to meet the fans.

“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not in the world, and the project was very appealing to me.”

“I spoke with manager Roberto De Zerbi, and I was impressed by what he presented. I’m sure our passion for the game will align very well.”

Marmoush had two contrasting seasons at Manchester City, dazzling everyone in his first season, 2024–2025, before struggling to get playing time last season due to the presence of high-profile strikers like Erling Haaland in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

He scored only three goals in 21 league matches for Manchester City last season, compared to seven goals he netted in the first half of his debut season at the Etihad Stadium.

De Zerbi, who took charge of Tottenham in March and helped them avoid relegation, wanted to strengthen the team’s rebuilt attack, after the club signed midfielders Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes, as well as defender Jan Paul van Hecke, in deals totaling £237 million.

Tottenham also signed Brazilian winger Savinho, formerly known as Savinio, from Manchester City in a deal worth approximately £75 million, plus £10 million in variable add-ons.

Marmoush is a versatile striker capable of playing centrally or from the left wing, and the Egyptian player is expected to get more playing opportunities under De Zerbi at Tottenham.

Tottenham needed to bolster its attack after two difficult seasons that ended in 17th place.

Marmoush represented Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, playing five matches without scoring any goals.

Egypt reached the Round of 16 for the first time in their history before being eliminated by Argentina, who went on to lose the final to Spain.

Tottenham started their league campaign with a 3–0 defeat to Brentford. They host rivals Newcastle United next Saturday.
