Interior Ministry Reveals Details of Kuwait’s Largest “Larica” Manufacturing Seizure - Sarmad

The General Directorate for Combating Narcotics, under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Sabah, revealed new details regarding the largest seizure of the production and trafficking of the psychoactive substance “Larica” in Kuwait’s history. The Criminal Security Sector apprehended five suspects, including three Kuwaiti nationals and two individuals holding Jordanian and Egyptian citizenship, who were all involved in managing a factory that manufactured and prepared “Larica” capsules for distribution.

The Directorate explained that the operation followed precise security investigations and intensive monitoring, which revealed that the suspects used three main locations. Two of these sites were designated for storing raw “Larica” powder and ready-made capsules, while the third site was converted into a factory equipped with a large industrial machine of the type used in pharmaceutical plants, along with machinery dedicated to packaging.

The Directorate noted that the suspects were packaging the capsules in containers designed to mimic genuine pharmaceutical products issued by licensed companies, attempting to pass the narcotic substance off as a legitimate medicinal product and mislead regulatory authorities and consumers.

These details follow the earlier announcement by Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef regarding the seizure of approximately five tons of raw “Larica” powder and nearly four million ready-made capsules intended for distribution, with a market value estimated at around 150 million Kuwaiti dinars, alongside a fully equipped production facility. The operation was described as the largest of its kind in the country’s history.
