Closing of Summer Clubs at the Ministry of Education: 6,554 Beneficiaries and Use of Play-Based Learning Methods - Sarmad
(KUNA) – The Ministry of Education concluded today, Wednesday, the educational cultural club programs implemented during the summer vacation, with the aim of supporting academic achievement, enhancing learners’ basic skills and concepts, consolidating their educational gains, addressing areas of weakness, and preparing them to transition to their next grade levels with a higher degree of readiness.
In a press release, the Ministry stated that 6,554 male and female students from the first grade of primary school through the ninth grade benefited from the educational cultural club programs, which were delivered across 12 educational cultural centers distributed among the six educational regions.
It added that 338 members of the teaching and administrative staff participated in implementing and organizing the programs, contributing to providing an organized and supportive learning environment for students during the summer vacation.
The centers offered free foundational programs in Arabic, English, and mathematics, based on educational plans prepared under the supervision of the Educational Guidance Departments. These programs focused on reviewing and reinforcing the basic concepts and skills that students had acquired in previous stages of their education, thereby helping to consolidate their educational gains, address areas of weakness, and enhance their readiness for the new academic year.
The Ministry clarified that the programs did not rely on traditional remedial teaching methods but instead employed a range of interactive educational approaches that combined active learning and play-based learning. This approach aimed to boost students’ motivation toward learning, making the review of basic skills and concepts more engaging and attractive, while accommodating their diverse needs and abilities.
The Ministry emphasized that the conclusion of the initiative represents an important step toward leveraging its outcomes to evaluate and develop supplementary educational programs in the future, thereby enhancing the quality of educational services provided to students and multiplying learning opportunities during vacation periods. This will support their launch into the new academic year with stronger skills and greater readiness.
