Chinese President to Visit Egypt in Coming Days – First Time in 10 Years - Sarmad

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Egypt in the coming days, marking the first such visit since 2016, according to announcements by the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Egyptian Presidency on Wednesday.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that President Xi would attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan before visiting Egypt from August 30 to September 3. The Egyptian Presidency later announced that President Xi would pay an official visit to Egypt in the coming days, during which he would meet President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.

A spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement that the talks would cover “various areas of mutual interest, as well as exchanges of views on a number of regional and international issues.”

President Xi’s last visit to Egypt took place on January 20, 2016, during a state visit that lasted several days, in which he participated in celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
