Kuwait and Al Arabi draw 3-3 to open the Zain Premier League - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Al Kuwait Club drew with its Arab counterpart Al Arabi 3-3 in a match held at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium on Tuesday, marking the opening fixture of the Zain League Premier Division for the 2026-2027 sports season.

Al Arabi’s Ali Khalaf scored the season’s first goal and his team’s opener in the 22nd minute, dribbling past an Al Kuwait defender before firing a powerful shot into the net to put his side ahead.

In the 30th minute, Mohammed Marhoon equalized for Al Kuwait with a strong strike from inside Al Arabi’s penalty area. The same player restored his team’s lead just before halftime, scoring in the 41st minute.

Al Arabi equalized in the second half in the 53rd minute through Zaid Qambar, who capitalized on a one-on-one opportunity against the Al Kuwait goalkeeper to calmly slot the ball into the net.

Later, Al Arabi was awarded a penalty kick in the 87th minute, which Qambar successfully converted. In the third minute of stoppage time, Al Kuwait’s foreign player Zola scored the equalizer for his side, ensuring each team earned one point.

The opening round matches will continue today with a clash between Al Qadsia and Al Fahaheel at the Naif Al-Dabous Stadium in Fahaheel.
