The Cabinet holds its meeting at the new Kuwait International Airport building (T2), chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Cabinet held its meeting today, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the T2 terminal building of the new Kuwait International Airport project, presided over by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him. Following the meeting, His Excellency Vice Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sharida Abdullah Al-Muwasharji, issued the following statement:
At the outset of its meeting, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of a written letter received from His Excellency General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council of the Republic of the Sudan, a fraternal country, on Wednesday of last week. The letter pertained to the fraternal bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them across various fields. The letter was delivered to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of the Sudan, Muhiyiddin Salem, during his official visit to the State of Kuwait accompanied by his delegation. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Head of the Diwan of the Crown Prince, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; and His Excellency the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of the Republic of the Sudan, Dr. Gaber Ibrahim Mohamed.
On another note, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of the meeting between His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Excellency Lieutenant General Asim Malik, National Security Advisor and Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a friendly country, and his accompanying delegation, held yesterday, Monday, on the occasion of his visit to the country. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, and His Excellency the Head of the Diwan of the Crown Prince, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
In a separate development, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of a telephone call received by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him, from His Excellency the Prime Minister of the friendly French Republic, Sebastien Lecornu, on Monday of last week. During the call, His Highness conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him and have mercy on him, and from His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, to His Excellency the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and to His Excellency Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu. His Highness also referred to the official invitation extended by His Highness the Amir of the State, may God protect him and have mercy on him, to His Excellency the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to pay an official visit to the State of Kuwait this year, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries. The call also discussed the close bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance cooperation prospects in the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples. Furthermore, the call addressed areas of cooperation and joint investment in defense, oil, health, and artificial intelligence. The latest developments on the regional and international scenes were also discussed, with the exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual concern.
The Cabinet was also briefed on the substance of the meeting held last Monday between His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him, and His Excellency General Asim Malik, National Security Advisor and Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, along with his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to the country. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Sabah.
In light of the Cabinet’s interest in monitoring the implementation of projects, and on the sidelines of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him, accompanied by His Excellency the Ministers, on a tour of the new Kuwait International Airport T2 project, His Highness, may God protect him, and the Ministers were updated on the latest developments regarding the project’s executive status and all matters related to its implementation, according to the three project packages:
– Package No. 1: Concerning the construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of the new passenger terminal building.
– Package No. 2: Concerning the construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of service buildings, access roads to the new passenger terminal, and parking areas.
– Package No. 3: Concerning the construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of aircraft stands and taxiways, and service buildings for the new passenger terminal.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him, emphasized the importance of the new Kuwait International Airport T2 project as one of the country’s major developmental initiatives. He stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination among all government entities with the Ministry of Public Works to overcome any obstacles that may hinder the project’s implementation, aiming to accelerate work progress and achieve continuous advancement in executing this vital project according to the specified timeline for its operation, as this project represents a qualitative leap in the field of air transport in the State of Kuwait.
His Highness, may God protect him, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for the significant efforts made by His Excellency the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah; His Excellency the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mutairi; His Excellency the Chairman of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Mubarak Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; the project stakeholders; and the relevant government entities, represented by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance, the Court of Audit, the Office of Fatwa and Legislation, and the Central Tenders Board, for their role in accelerating the pace of project implementation.
In this context, the Cabinet was informed of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s accession to the Airports Council International (ACI), a step that enhances Kuwait’s presence within the global airport network and supports efforts to develop the Kuwait International Airport system in accordance with best practices and international standards. The ACI is the global organization representing airport interests, comprising 811 members managing over 2,200 airports in more than 160 countries worldwide. The ACI works to enhance the safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability of airports, improve service quality and passenger experience. The Authority’s membership in the ACI enables it to benefit from expertise, data, training programs, and international standards, participate in specialized committees and events, and exchange best practices with major global airports, thereby contributing to improved operational efficiency, development of national human resources, and enhancement of the passenger experience.
The Cabinet reviewed a number of items on the agenda, as well as reports and minutes of ministerial committees, and approved them. It also decided to refer several of these items to the relevant ministerial committees for study and to submit appropriate recommendations to complete the procedures for their implementation.
