Germany: Drone and explosives found after attempted attack on airport - Sarmad

German media outlets, including broadcasting companies Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Westdeutscher Rundfunk, and the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, revealed on Tuesday that German investigators had discovered a third drone and suspected explosives linked to an attempted attack on Leipzig/Halle Airport earlier this month.

According to media reports, authorities found the drone on August 14, ten days after the incident, to the west of the airport, where investigators also discovered approximately 50 grams of a substance suspected to be the military-grade explosive HMX.

Security sources cited in the German media reports suggest possible involvement of Russian intelligence in the attack attempt, an accusation that Moscow has denied.

The airport serves as a hub for cargo, supply, and military logistics, and is used by NATO and the Ukrainian airline Antonov Airlines to transport military supplies.
