Syria: Israeli flares cause fires in agricultural lands in Quneitra - Sarmad

Local sources in Quneitra told Syrian media that fires broke out in agricultural lands in northern Quneitra’s countryside after Israeli occupation forces dropped flares in the area near the ceasefire line.

According to the sources, the fire’s epicenter was located between the ceasefire line and an earthen fence running alongside the “Sufa 53” road, causing the flames to spread across vast stretches of agricultural land.

The area remained the scene of Israeli field movements throughout the past night, whose objectives remain unclear. The rationale behind dropping these flares, which ignited the fires, destroyed farmers’ crops, and threatened their livelihoods—since most rely on agriculture and animal husbandry—remains incomprehensible.

This Israeli escalation comes amid daily Israeli incursions into southern Syrian territories, which involve raids, arrests, the establishment of checkpoints and barriers, intimidation of civilians, and preventing farmers and herders from accessing their lands.
