United Nations: 94% of Gaza’s population in need of shelter and basic supplies - Sarmad

The United Nations stated that 94% of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip require shelter and basic household supplies, amid widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure and the continued repeated displacement of residents.
The organization added that one in five families living in shelters faces critical or catastrophic levels of hunger, with limited access to food and a declining ability to secure basic needs.
It noted that shortages of fuel, energy, and essential supplies restrict residents’ ability to sleep, prepare food, bathe, store food and water, as well as provide lighting and protection from temperature fluctuations.
A large number of displaced people are living in crowded tents and shelters lacking blankets, bedding, cooking utensils, and hygiene products, while power outages and water scarcity are increasing health risks and worsening living conditions.
These warnings come as the Gaza Strip faces a continuing humanitarian crisis, with extensive damage to residential buildings and restrictions on the entry of humanitarian supplies and fuel, exacerbating the population’s needs and limiting the capacity of relief agencies to respond.
