ICC President Warns of Collapse of International Law - Sarmad

The President of the International Criminal Court, Tomoko Akane, warned on Friday of the collapse of international rule of law after the United States imposed sanctions on her.
Washington imposed sanctions on Akane, a Japanese national, and on Senegalese lawyer Abdoulaye Sylla last Tuesday, as part of President Donald Trump’s administration campaign against what it described as a corrupt and severely politicized body.
In a statement published by the “Bungei Shunju” publishing house on X, Akane said, “I somewhat expected the sanctions against me this time, so I am not surprised. The most important thing is not to let this become the beginning of the collapse of international rule of law.”
These measures bar Akane and Sylla from entering the United States and from conducting any transactions within the U.S. financial system.
