Interior Ministry Clarifies Mystery of 4 Diesel Theft and Telecom Tower Sabotage Cases in Jaber Al-Ahmad - Sarmad

The Ministry of Interior announced that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Administration of Criminal Investigations – Capital Governorate Criminal Investigations Department – successfully solved four cases of diesel theft and damage to telecommunications towers in the Jabir Al-Ahmad area, which had been registered against unknown perpetrators, and apprehended four Indian nationals in the act.

The arrests followed intensified search and investigative efforts, leveraging modern technical means and monitoring of telecommunications towers. It emerged that the suspects were employed by a contracted maintenance company and exploited their roles to siphon double the required amounts of diesel, using part of it to compensate for shortages at other towers, while appropriating the remainder for sale.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing these offenses over a two-year period at various locations. Investigations further revealed their involvement in similar incidents across different governorates. Inventory and investigative work are ongoing, paving the way for their referral to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued efforts to pursue perpetrators of theft and protect vital facilities and infrastructure, and to deal firmly with anyone attempting to tamper with them or harm the country’s interests.
