Scientific Center: Committed to Investing in Children and Youth Through Interactive Summer Programs - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Scientific Center, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, reaffirmed on Thursday its commitment to investing in children and youth as the country’s future, through its summer programs that provide an interactive environment combining knowledge with practical experience.

The Center’s Director General, Muassad Al-Yassin, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of the conclusion of the Center’s 2026 summer programs that the Center strives to ensure its summer programs transcend the concept of seasonal activities, becoming comprehensive educational and practical experiences that allow participants the opportunity to explore, learn, and develop their skills in an environment that fosters creativity and innovation.

Al-Yassin added that the Center’s programs have contributed to developing the skills of children and youth, enhancing their passion for science and learning, as well as their culture of volunteerism and social responsibility. He expressed pride in the role played by the Center’s teams in transferring their expertise and knowledge to participants and reinforcing values of responsibility, teamwork, and initiative among them.

He clarified that this year’s summer programs include the Scientific Summer Camp, the Summer Field Training Program, and the Volunteers Program, which were designed to offer a comprehensive experience suitable for different age groups and to contribute to the development of participants’ scientific, practical, and personal skills.

He noted that the Scientific Summer Camp, which lasted ten weeks and targeted children aged 6 to 12, offered a diverse range of interactive scientific activities, including experiments in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), alongside workshops, creative and sports activities, and field visits.

Al-Yassin explained that the Volunteers Program provided a practical experience that enabled participants to contribute to the Center’s activities and programs and interact with visitors, thereby helping them develop communication and teamwork skills, assume responsibility, and reinforce values of initiative, giving, and community service.

For her part, Sheikhah Al-Ibrahim, the official spokesperson and Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, told (KUNA) in a similar statement that the Authority participated in the camp’s events by delivering a series of lectures and interactive awareness activities aimed at enhancing environmental awareness among children and youth and instilling positive behaviors toward the environment.

Al-Ibrahim added that the Authority’s participation comes within the framework of its efforts to spread environmental culture among members of society, introduce students to daily practices that contribute to environmental conservation, and encourage them to adopt more sustainable choices and behaviors in their daily lives.

She pointed out that the Authority delivered awareness lectures to students of the Summer Club, covering various environmental topics in an interactive and simplified manner, which helps reinforce environmental concepts and enhance the sense of responsibility toward the environment among youth.

She noted that this participation falls within the continuous cooperation between the two parties, with the aim of delivering environmental awareness messages to different segments of society, especially children, through educational and interactive activities that combine knowledge and enjoyment, contributing to building a generation that is more aware and responsible toward its environment.
