Al-Shaibani: Syria informed Israel of the absence of a Turkish military presence in Abu al-Dhaher - Sarmad

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani said on Wednesday that he had clarified to Israel that Syria was not working with Turkey to build up a military presence at Abu al-Duhur airbase, but that Israel proceeded and carried out the strike on the base.

Al-Shibani told Axios that the strike targeting Abu al-Duhur airbase on Tuesday morning heightened tensions among three U.S.-close parties in the region, at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration is seeking to prevent further escalation.

The Syrian minister clarified that there was no intention to establish a Turkish base there, nor to set up a permanent Turkish military presence or deploy Turkish troops to the site, stressing that Israel’s bombing of the base was unjustified.
