Axios: US military established a 'secret' shipping lane in Hormuz to facilitate oil tanker passage - Sarmad

Two U.S. officials told Axios that the U.S. military has established a shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz to transport millions of barrels of oil daily, marking a notable success even as the broader conflict remains in a stalemate and amid signs of Tehran’s diminishing ability to control navigation through the waterway.

Under the operation, which began several weeks ago, 15 to 20 oil tankers enter and exit the strait each night via a southern corridor running along the Omani coast.

The officials said that approximately 10 million barrels of oil cross the strait daily and are pumped into the global market, a volume that approaches half of what used to pass through the strait before the outbreak of the Iran war.

The U.S.-led operation helps mitigate one of the war’s most significant repercussions: disruptions to oil supplies that have driven crude prices sharply higher.

The officials noted that while oil volumes exiting the strait remain below pre-war levels, they are making a noticeable difference in global supplies.
