Saudi Arabia: Cancellation of Paper-Based Follow-Up; Digital Card for Every Student and New Facilitations for Parents - Sarmad

Students and teachers in general education across various regions and governorates of Saudi Arabia are preparing for the start of the new academic year next Sunday, anticipating a new digital experience that facilitates their monitoring by teachers.

The service, launched by the Ministry of Education through the Unified Education Portal, allows students, parents, and teachers to access school assignments such as homework, activities, and periodic tests. It also provides a chat feature that enables continuous communication between parents and the school’s teaching and administrative staff without the need for physical presence.

Furthermore, the Ministry has made a range of e-services available through the portal, including transferring the guardianship of a new student, registering for school buses, transferring students between schools, and registering a new parent.

In a related development, the Ministry has enabled students to view their digital identity cards—an official electronic ID containing the student’s basic information (name, nationality, ID number, school, and grade level). This service aims to facilitate student identification and verify the accuracy of their data via a QR code, which can be presented to relevant authorities when needed.
