Inflation in the UK rises to 2.9%, reaching its highest level since last March - Sarmad

(QNA) – Britain’s inflation rate rose last month, reaching its highest level since March, driven by higher household energy bills following a 13 percent increase in energy prices.
The UK Office for National Statistics said in a statement on Wednesday that the annual consumer price inflation rate rose to 2.9 percent in July, up from 2.6 percent in June.
Core inflation, which excludes energy and food prices, also rose to 2.6 percent, surpassing the average forecast of 2.5 percent.
