"Financial Times": Iran considering targeting US military sites in Europe - Sarmad

The Financial Times quoted individuals close to the Iranian regime as saying that Tehran is considering targeting U.S. military sites in Europe if U.S. President Donald Trump decides to escalate the war, as part of efforts to explore options for raising the cost of the conflict.
Two sources within the Iranian regime told the Financial Times that Iranian forces had studied the possibility of targeting U.S. facilities in southeastern European countries, such as Bulgaria, which last month agreed to allow U.S. refueling aircraft to use the Bezmer Air Base.
One of the sources noted that Cyprus, where a British air base was attacked by a drone in March, is also among the potential targets for an Iranian response in the event of a resumption of U.S. attacks.
The two sources said that Iranian forces had separately studied the possibility of targeting undersea fiber-optic cables in the Strait of Hormuz in the event of escalating tensions.
The newspaper noted that these threats reflect the prevailing atmosphere in Tehran, where many within the regime now believe that the return of war is merely a matter of time.
