(KUNA) – Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi issued a ministerial decision regulating the trade of tobacco and nicotine products and the delivery of nicotine in the State of Kuwait, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of future generations and reduce the health burden of smoking on society.
The Ministry of Health said in a statement on Monday that the decision prioritizes the protection of children and young people by prohibiting sales to anyone under the age of 21, banning products that appeal to them, and restricting sales locations and methods. The decision bans sales at specific sites and through electronic platforms and delivery services.
The Ministry added that the decision prohibits unlicensed, untraceable, or non-compliant products, while requiring the registration and approval of products and the disclosure of their ingredients and nicotine concentrations.
It clarified that the decision covers media, digital platforms, influencers, and promotional activities, and will take effect on January 1, 2027.
