Iran: Memorandum of Understanding with the US does not include any clause related to the '60-day deadline' - Sarmad

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said on Monday that the memorandum of understanding with the United States does not include any provision regarding a “60-day deadline,” stressing that his country does not set its policies under pressure, threats, or deadlines, but rather bases all its decisions on an assessment of its national interests and security.

Baghaei clarified in media statements that the memorandum of understanding merely stipulated a 60-day period for conducting talks on two tracks: lifting sanctions and the nuclear file, noting that this period was extendable if no agreement was reached.

He added that what he described as a “blatant and widespread violation” of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18 by the United States, just weeks after its signing, prevented any talks from starting, and therefore the issue of the 60-day deadline lost any basis, according to him.
