Table Tennis Girls Crowned First Place in West Asia Championship - Sarmad
(KUNA) – The Kuwait girls’ table tennis team in the Under-11 (Sprouts) category secured first place today, Friday, after defeating Iraq 3-0 at the West Asia Championship held in Jordan, with competitions running until next Thursday.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Nader Bahbahani, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Table Tennis Federation, affirmed that the Kuwait girls’ Under-11 team’s first-place finish at the West Asia Championship in Jordan represents a distinctive achievement for Kuwaiti table tennis, reflecting the promising players’ technical skills and competitive capabilities.
Bahbahani added that the team deservedly claimed first place after their 3-0 victory over their Iraqi counterparts, praising the level of play demonstrated by the athletes and the efforts exerted by the technical and administrative staff to reach this achievement.
He noted that this result serves as a significant motivation for the rest of the national team players participating in the championship, which continues until next Thursday, emphasizing the Federation’s commitment to achieving the best results and reaching the podium across all categories.
He clarified that Kuwait is participating in the tournament across various age groups for both boys and girls, including Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13, and Under-11, as part of the Federation’s interest in providing opportunities for players to gain experience, enhance their technical levels, and compete at higher standards.
Bahbahani pointed out that the championship features participation from the national teams of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine, Oman, Iraq, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, adding considerable technical importance to the competitions and offering players a unique opportunity to acquire further experience.
He expressed hope that the Kuwaiti national teams would continue to achieve positive results in upcoming matches, reaffirming that the Federation will continue its support for players and work on developing the sport’s base to prepare a generation capable of representing Kuwait honorably at regional and international events.
