Yemeni Army: We thwarted a Houthi attack on our positions in Taiz - Sarmad

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced that they thwarted an attack launched by the Houthi group against their positions in the Al-Barah front, west of Taiz Governorate, on Friday morning, following fierce clashes that they said inflicted heavy casualties and material losses on the Houthis.

A military source told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the Houthi group deployed large numbers of its fighters in an assault on the Armed Forces’ positions, using various types of weapons, including artillery, mortars, and unmanned aerial vehicles. However, the Armed Forces were on high alert and successfully detected hostile movements and responded to them with efficiency.

The source noted that the clashes resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Houthi fighters, and the destruction and burning of several crews, barracks, artillery pieces, and military vehicles belonging to the group.

The source pointed out that the attack comes as part of the Houthi militias’ attempts to compensate for their recent losses on the western fronts.
