Egypt.. Casualties and Injuries from Helium Cylinder Explosion Inside a Cairo Shopping Mall - Sarmad

Egyptian authorities reported that three people were killed and others injured following the explosion of a helium gas cylinder inside a gift shop at a shopping mall in the Fifth Settlement area, east of Cairo.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the explosion caused a limited fire inside the shop, which civil defense forces managed to extinguish, and resulted in damage to the facades of some adjacent stores.

A security source denied the authenticity of claims circulating on social media platforms about an elevator falling inside the shopping mall.

For her part, the Egyptian Ministry of Health stated that it monitored the incident’s repercussions through its medical teams, the ambulance service, and the central crisis and emergencies room at the ministry’s general office, emphasizing immediate response to the injured and provision of necessary medical care.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, clarified that eight ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The Cairo New City Specialized Hospital admitted 11 patients, while six others were transferred to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing examinations and receiving necessary medical services, with their health conditions continuing to be monitored.
