Basij Commander: Strait of Hormuz under Iran's control and management - Sarmad

Hossein Taeb, commander of the Basij forces—the mobilization arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—said on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz is “under Iran’s control and management.”

His remarks came after US President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that the United States has “full control” over this strategic waterway.

The IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency quoted Taeb as saying that the United States had sought to undermine what he described as Iran’s popularity in the region by launching another war in the Strait of Hormuz, but had been defeated again, despite its claims that Iran possesses no air force or navy.

Taeb added, “Today you see that the Strait of Hormuz is under the management and control of the Islamic Republic,” affirming that Iran continues its path with complete security, according to Reuters.

Iran, on Wednesday, justified its plans to impose fees on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, citing environmental damage caused by maritime traffic in this strategic waterway.

Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said on the X platform that “decades of pollution in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman have caused damages to Iran estimated in the trillions of dollars.”
