Nizaha stated in a press release on Wednesday that the meeting was attended by representatives of anti-corruption authorities in GCC countries, alongside professionals from the sports sector, including representatives of federations and clubs. The Authority explained that the event is part of joint efforts to strengthen cooperation among Gulf bodies concerned with combating sports corruption, raise awareness of the risks of corruption in this sector, and identify preventive measures by showcasing best practices and relevant regional and international experiences.

It added that the Nizaha representative delivered a presentation titled “Kuwait’s Experience in Enhancing Integrity and Transparency in the Sports Sector,” which covered the legislative and institutional framework for sports and anti-corruption in Kuwait, and highlighted the role of sports as a societal pillar in building a culture of integrity. The presentation also featured practical examples of Kuwait’s role in implementing initiatives that promote integrity and combat corruption in the sports sector.

The Authority noted that the meeting highlighted Kuwait’s experience, which embodies a comprehensive approach combining deterrent legislation, community awareness, governance, and institutional oversight to safeguard integrity and transparency in sports. It reaffirmed that combating corruption is a shared responsibility between the state and society.
