6 killed in Houthi attack on cargo ship near Bab al-Mandab Strait - Sarmad

Yemeni coast guard officials announced that at least six people were killed in an attack attributed by the government to the Houthis, which targeted a cargo ship near the Bab al-Mandab strait off Yemen’s southern coast.

In a statement, the Yemeni Coast Guard said that among the dead were “four crew members” of the cargo ship “Tihama,” including three Pakistanis and one Indonesian, as well as “two members of the armed forces” who had participated in a rescue operation to evacuate the ship’s crew.

For his part, the U.S. military announced on Tuesday that it had fired on a Panama-flagged vessel attempting to approach an Iranian port, in violation of the blockade imposed by the United States.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Middle East reported via the X platform that a helicopter fired two missiles at the engine room of the cargo ship “Villa Nova” after its crew “ignored” U.S. warnings.
