Kuwait condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli occupation sovereignty over the Syrian Golan - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and rejection of the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli occupation authorities’ sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan, reaffirming Kuwait’s opposition to this step, which contravenes international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared that the occupation authority’s imposition of its laws and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and has no legal effect.

In a statement issued today, Tuesday, the Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land, and its rejection of any decisions aimed at entrenching the occupation or legitimizing it, emphasizing the principle that acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible under the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

Kuwait reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the sister Syrian Arab Republic, and renewed its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the UN Charter, and to compel Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
