Syrian Court Sentences Bashar al-Assad in Absentia to Death - Sarmad

Damascus’ Criminal Court sentenced Bashar al-Assad in absentia to death on Tuesday for the crime of intentional murder of multiple persons, including children, as well as for torture, arbitrary detention, and crimes against humanity.

The judge of Damascus’ Criminal Court stated that Bashar al-Assad had mobilized state apparatuses to carry out war crimes and crimes against humanity, and that he bore moral responsibility for the crimes committed, even if he did not personally perpetrate them.
