United States cancels more than 175,000 visas for foreigners - Sarmad

The U.S. Department of State announced the cancellation of more than 175,000 visas for foreigners, as part of ongoing audits aimed, according to the department, at individuals who violated visa conditions and those who pose a threat to national security or public safety.

The U.S. State Department stated that the cancellations included foreigners who violated the terms of their visas, committed crimes, called for violence against U.S. citizens, defrauded Americans, abused the U.S. immigration system, or posed a threat to national security.

It clarified that the majority of the visas were canceled following intervention by law enforcement authorities in response to what it described as “various criminal activities,” led by assaults, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, theft, and drug-related offenses.

A significant proportion of the visas were also canceled in connection with cases involving reckless driving, sexual assault, child abuse, fraud, embezzlement, and other crimes.

The department emphasized that these decisions result from continuous audits conducted to ensure that visa holders comply with the terms of their visas and do not pose a threat to Americans.
