Iraqi Government: Work underway to inventory and hand over coalition force sites before September 30 - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Iraqi government said on Monday that work is underway to inventory and take over the remaining coalition force sites in the country ahead of their official withdrawal deadline on September 30. Government spokesperson Haider al-Abadi said at a press conference that Iraqi security forces are carrying out the inventory and handover at a regular pace, completing the steps and transferring them to the custody of Iraqi forces. Al-Abadi added that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has directed the relevant bodies within the armed forces to secure the country’s needs for air defense weapons, “especially as the region is now on full alert in terms of security, ground control, and air defenses.” Coalition forces are scheduled to completely withdraw from their last sites in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq by no later than September 30, as part of an agreement between Iraq and the United States.
