Municipality Launches "License Your Activity... Take the Right Steps" Campaign to Raise Awareness Among Shop Owners - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Kuwait Municipality affirmed today, Sunday, its support for economic activities in the country through the “License Your Activity… Take the Right Steps” campaign, which recently launched and aims to raise awareness among shop owners regarding the requirements and regulations governing their operations, thereby helping them avoid violations and legal penalties.

Hamad Al-Namran, Advertising Supervisor in the Audit and Follow-up Department of the Capital Governorate Branch, said in a press statement during the first field tour in the Capital Governorate that the campaign is not limited to commercial shop licenses but also covers craft, professional, investment, and industrial activities.

Al-Namran added that the campaign urges activity owners to obtain and renew licenses through official channels, as well as to refrain from violating the systems and laws governing the municipality’s various regulations. He emphasized the importance of complying with the regulations and laws organizing their work, noting that severe financial fines of up to 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars may be imposed, in addition to the issuance of closure orders for shops or activities.

He explained that field teams focus, through this campaign, on monitoring three types of violations: opening a shop without a license, adding unlicensed space, and adding or conducting an unlicensed activity without municipal approval. He confirmed that the Audit Department conducts daily field campaigns in various investment, commercial, and industrial areas in the Capital Governorate to identify and document violations and encroachments. In cases of minor infractions that do not warrant formal penalties, warnings are issued.

Al-Namran called on commercial activity owners to follow the Kuwait Municipality’s official accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidelines that will be published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements. This, he said, will help facilitate their procedures and ensure compliance with systems and regulations.
